Day 12 or obviously going home ….
Not far to Niederkassel. Since yesterday, Uli has been talking about the “stable smell” that he notices.
If he had said he smelled the Rhine, I would actually have been worried, but everyone who has ever traveled to the Bermuda triangle between Bonn, Cologne and Leverkusen for tourist reasons knows about the smell of the stables……
Almost home, at least Uli. Tonight we stay in Rappenau in order to “sit out” the remaining 280 kilometers to Niederkassel tomorrow.
As the willing fan community will notice, not only is the reporting declining, but the flood of images is also slowly thinning out.
No wonder, on the one hand the roads are much longer, on the other hand you already know the area in the Black Forest from other trips.
So if you want more information about the Black Forest, you should take a look here…
We start as (almost) always, depending on the level of the day before, with a mixture of cold barley and roasted fruit, at around 9:00 a.m. and slowly wind our way north out of the Black Forest.
Titisee-Neustadt sees us dropping in for a coffee and around noon we take another break at a cute gas station, where we sit down on milk cans (see photos).
But around 3:30 p.m., despite all the intended delays, we arrive in Bad Rappenau and stay for the last time on this tour “foreign”.
Uli will take over the leadership part tomorrow, but he’s not yet sure which side of the Rhine we’ll “slide” home on. So this time I will follow relaxed. I’m happy for that……
With this in mind, anyone who reads my block occasionally will suspect that my “very last report” will only come with a conclusion the day after tomorrow.
I hope I can convince Uli to write a little guest post tomorrow.
On that note, stay tuned……
